In this newsletter I discuss some of the strengths of the “Father” of our nation, including observations of those close to him. Many were impressed with his strength and cunning in battle. But equal to his military inclinations was an endless devotion to morality, civility, virtue and the relationship between Heaven and worldly prosperity. From his first inaugural address we get a glimpse of his character and devotion to religious principle.
“…since we ought to be no less persuaded that the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained…”
Those that worked closely with him were equally praising of his honesty and virtue, as we can see here in the words of Thomas Jefferson.
“His integrity, was the most pure, his justice the most inflexible I have ever known. He was, indeed, in every sense of the word,a wise, a good, and a great man.” —Thomas Jefferson
